Over twenty years’ experience as a Legal Management Professional, Academician, International Legal Consultant, highlighted by progressively responsible and diversified experience in public sector and competitive business environments spanning: international and comparative arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), contract law, regulation and compliance, banking and finance, international trade and investment, competition and consumer protection, legal drafting, regional integration and economic development.

A strategic thinker, visionary, doer, skilled supervisor, trainer, leader, and motivator. Proven ability to work effectively with organizational leadership and workplace personnel.

Attorney-at-Law/Counsel
Malcolm Gordon, Attorneys-at-Law Partner – Focus areas in practice are Dispute Management (including mediation, facilitated contract renegotiation, arbitration, adjudication and litigation), Banking and Finance, Trade and Investment.
Recent engagements have included:
  • Lead Counsel in an international arbitration where the substantive dispute concerned a claimed breach of a construction contract between a Canadian statutory corporation and one in a Caribbean jurisdiction.
  • Counsel in an international arbitration where the substantive dispute concerned claimed liability for hurricane damage to a marine development in the Caribbean region.
  • Lead counsel on behalf of a Government in the Caribbean region in an arbitration where the substantive dispute concerned a claimed breach of contract for construction of a water treatment facility.
Arbitrator
Recent engagements have included:
  • Sole Arbitrator in an international arbitration seated in the Eastern Caribbean where the substantive dispute concerned a claimed breach of a trade financing arrangement.
  • Sole Arbitrator in an arbitration seated in the Eastern Caribbean concerning a land development project.
  • Sole Arbitrator in an international arbitration seated in Jamaica where the substantive dispute concerned a claimed breach of a supply of goods contract.
Former Attorney General
Served as principal legal advisor to the Governor and to the Government of the British Virgin Islands from 1 January 2012 – 31 December 2014.
